Choose a location: Select a spot that receives full sun and has well-draining soil. 

Dig holes: Dig holes or a trench that is about 6 to 8 inches deep. A good rule of thumb is to plant the bulb three times as deep as it is tall. 

Place the bulbs: Put the bulbs in the holes with the pointy side facing up and the flat side down. If the pointy side is unclear, don’t worry as the sprout will find its way up. 

Space the bulbs: Plant bulbs 4 to 5 inches apart. For a fuller look, you can space them closer, about 2–3 inches apart. 

Backfill and water: Cover the bulbs with soil, pat it down, and water them thoroughly after planting. 

Protect from pests (optional): If you have issues with squirrels or other animals, cover the planted area with chicken wire and secure it with rocks. You can remove it in the spring once the green shoots appear. 

Fertilize (optional): For extra root development, you can mix in a little bone meal or organic fertilizer during planting, following the product's instructions.
